Goodbye to care. These three little words from the song Westering Home, written by Hugh S. Roberton a century ago, sum up beautifully what it means to choose a holiday on lovely Islay, The Queen of the Hebrides.
Visitors receive a ceud mile failte (one hundred thousand welcomes) from the moment they alight from the ferry at Port Ellen. There are no strangers here, just friends we have yet to meet.
The song says it all about the warmth and friendliness of this place and its people: Westering home, and a song in the air, Light in the eye and it’s goodbye to care. Laughter o’ love, and a welcoming there, Isle of my heart, my own one. According to the song, the islanders are “canty and couthy and kindly, the best”. They will make you feel immediately at home.
Our beautiful cottages Beinn Mhor and Beinn Bhan offer traditional yet luxurious self catering accommodation. An ideal place to relax and enjoy your holiday in comfort.
